Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | December 5-11

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from December 5 through 11. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Karlee Feldman, Grace
Feldman carried RV Grace to a hard-fought road win at Taylor with 23 points, 18 rebounds and three steals. The junior posted her seventh double-double of the year and shot 60.0 percent from the floor with nine makes in 15 attempts.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Jason Hubbard, Taylor
Hubbard powered Taylor to a Silent Night victory and an upset of No. 2 Grace. The senior averaged 25.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks, while shooting 56.7 percent. Additionally, Hubbard scored the 10th point on Silent Night and reached 2,000-career points in TU’s win over Grace.

Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Addy Wiley, Huntington
Wiley ran past the field in the 3,000-meters at the Grand Valley State Open, topping runners from NCAA Division I and II by over 30 seconds. Wiley’s winning time of 9:24 automatically qualified the freshman for NAIA Nationals.

Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Erica Xayarath, Huntington
Xayarath dominated the jump events at the Indiana Tech Invite, leading Huntington with wins in the long jump and high jump and a runner-up in the triple jump. Xayarath hit the NAIA A-standard in all three, and set new HU records in the long jump and high jump.

Men’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Erich Rhodeback, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Rhodeback highlighted Mount Vernon Nazarene’s showing at the Tiffin Open, taking first in the 60-meter hurdles. Rhodeback’s time of 8.11 seconds in the race automatically qualified the sophomore sprinter for NAIA Nationals.

Men’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Sammy Sommers, Taylor
Sommers turned in the No. 2-rated distance in the long jump in the NAIA this season with a winning mark of 7.42 meters at the Indiana Tech Invite. Along with taking first place, Sommers hit the NAIA-A standard and broke his own Taylor program record.
