Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | February 18-24

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of February 18 through 24. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Kyle Mangas, Indiana Wesleyan

Mangas pushed No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan into the CL Tournament Championship with 33 points in a 79-78 win over No. 9 Marian in the semifinals and averaged 25.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the Wildcats, while shooting 64.3 percent from the floor.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Kendall Bradbury, Taylor

Bradbury netted 28 points in a quarterfinal win for No. 8 Taylor and added 26 in a 63-58 Crossroads League Tournament Semifinal win over RV Saint Francis. Bradbury pulled down 11 rebounds in each contest and shot 38.5 percent from deep and 47.2 percent overall.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Wyatt Whitman, Taylor

Whitman spurred Taylor’s offense in a four-game series win over IUSB, clubbing one home run and one double in the series. Whitman closed the four-game set with four hits, three runs, three runs batted in and one steal.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Drake Gongwer, Taylor

Gongwer tossed his first collegiate no-hitter in Taylor’s 4-1 win over IU South Bend on Saturday. The sophomore righty fanned seven and walked one over the seven-inning gem.
