Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | January 19-25

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from January 19 through 25. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Abbey McNally, Marian

McNally broke her own Marian single-game scoring record with 39 points on 17-of-24 shooting to lead No. 4 Marian past Bethel. The senior also added 16 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the victory.

 

Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Abbey McNally, Marian

McNally dominated both ends of the court for No. 4 Marian in a 74-56 win over Bethel. The senior grabbed 12 defensive rebounds to go with two steals and two blocks in a 39-point, 16-rebound double-double.

 

Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Kaden Johnson, Huntington

Johnson was at it again for RV Huntington, making 10-of-11 shots from the field and ending with 20 points in HU’s 85-78 win over Spring Arbor. The senior post also grabbed seven rebounds, dished three assists and swatted three shots.

 

Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Gage Sefton, Grace

Sefton helped No. 1 Grace remain unblemished on the season, grabbing 11 rebounds and three steals to go with 19 points for the Lancers in an 83-70 win at No. 23 Taylor.

 

Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Sydney Liddle, Indiana Wesleyan

Liddle ran the NAIA’s fourth-best mile time of the season, crossing in 4:55.32 to break IWU’s program record and automatically qualify for NAIA Nationals.

 

Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Delaney Teachnor, Marian

Teachnor won the pole vault at Taylor’s George Glass Invitational, hitting the NAIA A-standard with a height of 3.65 meters.

 

Men’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Jayden Williams, Huntington

Williams posted a pair of A-standards for Huntington at the Crossroads of America meet. The sophomore won the 600 with a time of 1:19.44 and then finished runner-up in the 4×400-meter relay with a mark of 3:14.82.

 

Men’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Josh Forbes, Taylor

Forbes cleared 4.85 meters in the pole vault to win the event and automatically qualify for NAIA Nationals. The senior’s mark was the second-best pole vault in the NAIA this season.

 

Women’s Bowler of the Week
Olivia Strait, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Strait placed top-10 in the third OBC of the season, knocking down a total of 575 pins over three games.

 

Men’s Bowler of the Week
Zachary Morrison, Bethel

Morrison took 16th-of-112 bowlers at the OBC, averaging 214.8 and posting a final score of 644 for the Pilots.
