Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | January 31-February 6

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from January 31 through February 6. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Taniece Chapman, Goshen
Chapman averaged 20.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game to lead Goshen against No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan and No. 6 Marian. Chapman scored 20 points in each game, while her eight-of-10 shooting and nine rebounds helped Goshen to a 65-51 upset of the Wildcats.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Jason Hubbard, Taylor
Hubbard reached 30 points in each game, posted his 10th double-double and finished the week at 31.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Hubbard approached a triple-double with 30 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in TU’s 95-90 win over Bethel.

Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Shelby Christman, Huntington
Christman won two events for Huntington at the IWU Midwest Classic, hitting the NAIA A-standard in the 3,000 meters and distance-medley relay. Christman’s times were the fourth-best in the NAIA this season in the 3,000 and the No. 1 mark in the DMR.

Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Arriana Benjamin, Marian
Benjamin scored wins in the shot put and weight throw at the IWU Midwest Classic. The junior broke her own program record and automatically qualified for NAIA Nationals in each event, while posting the top mark in the NAIA in the shot and the fourth-best in the weight throw.

Men’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Dylan Felger, Huntington
Felger topped the field in the 600-meters and distance medley relay with A-standard times in each event. Felger set a program record with the fastest time of the season in the 600 and his HU squad’s time in the DMR was the second-fastest in the NAIA.

Men’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Devin Humes, Marian
Humes was at it again for Marian in the IWU Midwest Classic, posting wins and A-standards in the shot put and weight throw. Humes’ mark in the weight throw broke his own school record and was good for ninth-best in the NAIA this season.

Women’s Bowler of the Week
Alivia Kuch, Spring Arbor
Kuch claimed the individual title at the fourth and final Crossroads League meet of the season. The SAU freshman knocked down 857 pins at the event, posting an average of 214.3 with a game-high of 247.

Men’s Bowler of the Week
Brendon Fuller, Marian
Fuller led Marian to its third win in four Crossroads League meets this season. The senior posted 979 pins in the four games, scoring at least 230 in each game and averaging 245 with a high of 256.
