Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 14-20

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from March 14 through 20. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Andrew Miller, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Miller filled the stat sheets for MVNU over six games, helping the Cougars to four wins with a .550 batting average, 10 runs scored, three homers, one triple, seven runs batted in and one stolen base.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Logan Fox, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Fox fired a complete-game shutout in Mount Vernon Nazarene’s 11-0 win over RV Indiana Wesleyan. The sophomore fanned nine over seven innings and allowed just three hits and one walk.

 

Softball Player of the Week
Shelbie Stotts, Marian
Stotts had eight hits in 12 at bats over four games for No. 16 Marian, helping the Knights to a trio of victories with two doubles, one triple and one home run among those eight knocks. In addition to slugging 1.250, Stotts scored four times and drove in seven more.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sydney Wilson, Marian
Wilson went 2-0 for No. 16 Marian in the circle, working six innings in each start without allowing a run or a walk. The senior picked up 12 strikeouts and posted a WHIP on the week of 0.50.
