Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 4-10

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of March 4 through 10. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.

Baseball Player of the Week
Chris Triplett, Spring Arbor

Triplett collected 12 hits and four home runs during SAU’s eight-game spring break trip. The senior third baseman hit .444 with nine RBI, 11 runs, an .889 slugging percentage and a .531 on-base percentage.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
David Anderson, Grace

Anderson went 2-0 on the mound for the Lancers, posting a 1.38 ERA over 13 innings and striking out 13 batters. The junior righty held foes to a .213 average and hit .393 with seven RBI at the plate.

 

Softball Player of the Week
Lauren Wirgau, Spring Arbor

Wirgau picked up four wins in the circle for Spring Arbor over five appearances, fanning 24 batters in 30 innings of work. The righty allowed only eight earned runs for a 1.87 earned-run average.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Olivia Hoffman, Marian

Hoffman led No. 6 Marian to four victories by hitting .462 with two runs and three runs batted in to open the season for the Knights. Hoffman highlighted her week with a go-ahead single in MU’s 2-1 win over Bellevue.

 

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Nathan Bogle, Marian

Bogle picked up wins at No. 2 singles and No. 4 doubles in his lone outing of the week, highlighting No. 18 Marian’s 6-3 loss at Coastal Georgia.

 

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Marissa Klein, Indiana Wesleyan

Klein won all four of her matches for No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan in IWU’s victories over Southeastern and Minnesota State-Mankato. Klein did not drop a set in the four combined matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and 6 singles.
