Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | May 5-11
JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from May 5 through May 11. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Luke Sutter, Taylor
Sutter drove in two runs in each of Monday’s CLT Championship games, powering No. 9 Taylor to the title with one home run, one double, four runs batted in and two runs scored. Sutter hit .429 in the two games, with all three hits going for extra bases.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
David Platt, Taylor
Platt registered three innings of relief for Taylor during the Crossroads League Tournament Championship game, entering with Taylor trailing 4-0 and exiting with the score locked at 4-4 in the eventual 5-4 Taylor victory. Platt fanned four and allowed just one hit in the outing.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Camron Jones, Grace
Jones won the individual Crossroads League Championship, with all three rounds coming in under par at the tournament. Jones fired scores of 71, 69 and 71 to secure CLT medalist honors.
