Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | May 6 – 12

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of May 6 through May 12. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Matt Burleton, Marian

Burleton fired 8.1 scoreless frames at Taylor on short rest to push the Knights into the championship game against Grace. The senior lefty fanned four and scattered six hits and one walk in the 3-0 win.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Leo Lopez, Marian

Lopez helped Marian to a second-straight Crossroads League Tournament Championship by hitting .375 with four runs, one homer and three runs batted in over four contests. In the title game, Lopez had three hits, three runs, a home run and a double.

 

Men’s Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Jordan Downs, Bethel

Downs hit NAIA A marks and won NCCAA Championships in the pole vault and long jump, while earning Outstanding Performer-of-the-Meet honors and helping the Pilots to the team championship.

 

Men’s Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Dylan Felger, Grace

Felger set a new Grace record and finished first in the 400-meter hurdles, in addition to taking second in the 4×400-meter relay for Grace at NCCAA Nationals.

 

Women’s Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Queen Walker, Bethel

Walker earned Outstanding Performer-of-the-Meet accolades at the NCCAA National Championships after claiming individual titles in the discus and hammer for Bethel.

 

Women’s Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Emma Jankowski, Bethel

Jankowski claimed NCCAA Championships in the 800 and 1,500-meters for Bethel and took third in the 4×800-meter relay to help BU secure the team crown.
