Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | May 6-12
JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from May 6 through 12. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Luke Picchiotti, Taylor
Picchiotti homered, walked and knocked in two runs to lead No. 17 Taylor past Saint Francis, 7-4, for the Crossroads League Tournament Championship.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Gabel Pentecost, Taylor
Pentecost worked the first four innings of No. 17 Taylor’s, 7-4, comeback win over USF in the Crossroads League Tournament Championship. Pentecost fanned eight and allowed just one earned run.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Lane Zedrick Marian
Zedrick led a dominant Crossroads League Championships performance from No. 23 Marian, as the freshman led the Knights to the team title. Zedrick fired scores of 67, 68 and 70 to take individual medalist honors.
