Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | November 4-10

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from November 4 through 10. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Konner Platt, Huntington
Platt poured in 25 points in HU’s upset win at No. 13 IU East and then added 35 points on 10-of-14 shooting in an 88-75 win over Judson. The senior finished the week with 24.7 points per game on 53.3-percent shooting to help Huntington win two-of-three games.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
TaNiece Chapman, Goshen
Chapman averaged a double-double in two Goshen victories, netting 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 63.2 percent from the floor. The second-year forward highlighted her week with a 19-point, 15-rebound, four-assist gem in GC’s 81-68 win over Roosevelt.

Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Skyler Van Note, Marian
Van Note shredded Bethel for 18 kills and 14 digs to help No. 10 Marian clinch a share of the regular season Crossroads League Championship and opened MU’s play in the CL Tournament with a 13-kill, 13-dig double-double. The sophomore averaged 5.2 kills and 4.5 digs, while hitting .360 in the two victories.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Ellie Ruby, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Ruby led MVNU past Taylor in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals by collecting 33 digs in a five-set win and averaged 7.0 digs per set for the Cougars in two victories last week.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Alex Falcone, Indiana Wesleyan
Falcone turned a pair of 40-assist matches in No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan’s sweeps of Goshen and Bethel. Falcone had 45 assists to help IWU secure a share of the Crossroads League Championship and then opened the CL Tournament with 42 helpers in a sweep of Bethel.

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Noah Fleming, Huntington
Fleming sent RV Huntington into the finals of the Crossroads League Tournament with a golden goal in the fifth minute of overtime during HU’s 1-0 victory against Bethel.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Gabe Greenfield, Huntington
Greenfield and the RV Forester defense kept Bethel off the board in a 1-0 CL Tournament Semifinal victory. Greenfield picked up three saves in 94 minutes of work in goal for HU.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Lexis Garcia, Indiana Wesleyan
Garcia assisted on No. 10 IWU’s game-tying score and then netted the game-winner on her own to lead the Wildcats past MVNU in a 2-1 affair in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Alexis Patenaude, Marian
Patenaude grabbed four saves in No. 15 Marian’s 1-0 win over No. 17 Grace. The freshman keeper’s performance helped send the Knights into the CL Tournament Championship.

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Haile Stutzman, Huntington
Stutzman raced to the 2019 Crossroads League Championship as a freshman with a time of 24:51 to break the course record and help No. 10 Huntington take third as a team.

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Hannah Stoffel, Huntington
Stoffel set a new course and Huntington program record with a time of 17:04 to win the Crossroads League Championship by 54 seconds over the next-fastest time.
