Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | September 16-22

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from September 16 through 22. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Eva Joldersma, Indiana Wesleyan
Joldersma powered No. 8 IWU with 5.5 kills per set and a .359 hitting percentage in wins over No. 16 MVNU and Huntington. The returning NAIA National Player of the Year had 21 kills and 11 digs in the Wildcats’ sweep of previously unbeaten Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Volleyball Defender of the Week
Emma Lyons, Marian
Lyons had a MU single-match record with 46 digs in a five-set win over Huntington and added 15 more in a four-set victory over Taylor. For the week, Lyons averaged 6.8 assists per set for No. 22 Marian and surpassed 1,000 digs for her career.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Abbigail Porter, Indiana Wesleyan
Porter led No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan to sweeps of No. 16 Mount Vernon Nazarene and Huntington to take sole control of the CL standings. The All-American averaged 12.5 assists, 3.5 digs and 0.8 blocks per set in the two wins.
Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Cassidy Felger, Grace
Felger scored the game-winner for Grace in a 1-0 defeat of Lindsey Wilson. Felger needed just two attempts to find the back of the net and help the Lancers improve to 8-0 in non-league play.
Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Zoe Mueller, Grace
Mueller and the Grace defense posted a shutout, as the Lancers held Lindsey Wilson without a shot in the 1-0 victory. Mueller also had a hand in the game-winning score, dishing out the assist to send GC to the victory.
Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Sam Dolobaipu, Huntington
Dolobaipu registered a hat trick for Huntington in a 5-1 win over Trinity Christian. The sophomore midfielder netted the game-winner and found the net on three of his six shot attempts.
Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Matteo Conci, Grace
Conci made three saves in a 1-0 win over RV Northwestern Ohio for No. 20 Grace. The senior keeper preserved the clean sheet by stopping a penalty kick in the second half.
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Katie Woods, Marian
Woods led RV Marian at the ISU Jon McNichols Invite, finishing 13th in the non-DI competition. Woods finished in 22:20 to top all NAIA athletes at the meet.

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Clark Chustz, Marian
Chustz led Marian at the ISU Jon McNichols Invite, finishing 67th overall in the non-DI competition and posting a time of 25:41.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Sofia Munoz, Indiana Wesleyan
Munoz won 11 matches on the week without suffering a defeat, playing to the ITA Regional Championships for singles and doubles play.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Timo Novak, Goshen
Novak became the first Goshen player to advance to the semifinals of the ITA Regional Tournament. In addition to his run at the ITA event, Novak scored a win at No. 3 singles to help Goshen top IWU in league play.
