Dominant Performances Net Sweep of Weekly Women’s Basketball Awards For IUN’s Jackson

CHICAGO — Indiana University Northwest’s Tiara Jackson (East Chicago, Ind.) single-handedly snared both Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors when the league office made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.

Jackson authored a pair of double-doubles en route to averaging 27.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per game in two RedHawk wins during the seven-day period ending Jan. 12.  She also shot 59 percent from the field (23-of-39), 81.8 percent from the free-throw line (9-of-11) and averaged 3.5 blocks, 3.5 steals and 1.0 assists per contest.

The senior forward was dominant in a 58-40 win over Judson University last Wednesday when she accounted for better than 50 percent of the team’s scoring by making 14 of her 24 attempts from the field (58.3 pct.).  She finished the night with 31 points, 17 rebounds, six blocks, five steals and one assist.

Then, on Saturday, Jackson produced 24 points, 15 boards, two steals, one block and one assist in an 83-54 win versus Trinity Christian College.

The two league wins kept Indiana Northwest in the race for the conference title at 12-4 overall and 5-3 in CCAC action.
