Live coverage for all six games on BTN; Tournament begins Sunday, March 14
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Big Ten Network’s coverage of the 2021 Big Ten Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament, March 14-16, begins on Sunday with the first of six games from Notre Dame’s Compton Family Ice Arena. Wisconsin, along with the nation’s leading goal-scorer in Cole Caufield, earned the tournament’s No. 1 seed and a first-round bye following a 17-6-1 regular season.
Ben Holden and Paul Caponigri will have the call for the quarterfinals round, while Dan Kelly and Fred Pletsch will take over for the semifinals and championship game. Michelle McMahon will serve as the on-site reporter and Rick Pizzo will anchor studio coverage, joined by Caponigri during semifinal and championship game coverage.
Tournament play opens at noon ET on Sunday, with fourth-seeded Notre Dame taking on fifth-seeded Penn State. The second quarterfinal on Sunday is set for 4 p.m. ET when second-seeded Minnesota takes on seventh-seed Michigan State and quarterfinal action concludes at 8:30 p.m. ET as third-seeded Michigan faces sixth-seeded Ohio State.
Monday’s semifinals begin at 4:30 p.m. ET and feature the top-seeded Badgers taking on the winner of Sunday’s Notre Dame vs. Penn State contest. The second semifinal, at 8:30 p.m. ET, will feature the winner of Minnesota vs. Michigan State and the winner of Michigan vs. Ohio State.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday, March 16, at 8 p.m. ET with the championship game. In addition to airing on the Big Ten Network, all games and studio programming can also be streamed via the web, smartphones, tablets and connected devices through the FOX Sports App.
On March 16, BTN will also announce the men’s hockey All-Big Ten teams and individual award winners as selected by the conference’s coaches and a media panel. The honorees will be unveiled between 2 p.m. ET to 2:20 p.m. ET via the @B1GHockey Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as a release from the Big Ten Conference.
