Fire Men’s Golf Fifth at Webber

LAKE WALES, Fla.—Despite a strong finish, the Southeastern University men’s golf team placed fifth at the annual Webber Fall Classic, held at Lake Wales Country Club.

As a team, the Fire carded a round of 1-under in the final round at 287, posting a 54-hole score of just 11 over (875). The third round score by SEU was the fourth-lowest of the day, with overall winner Coastal Georgia and second place Johnson & Wales both carding 11-under 277’s.

Individually, Nicholas Maff carded a 68 in the final round to finish the tournament at six-under, and tied for fifth with a score of 210 (72-70-68). He finished with six birdies, recording three on each of his first three holes.

Freshman Andres Padilla recorded even-par rounds of 72 in the second and third after opening with a 73, and tied for 11th. Landry Miller recorded his best round of the tournament on Monday at 1-over, and tied for 22nd with a score of 224 (75-76-73).

Following a 79 in the first round, Jacob Soucinek came back with an even-par 72 and a 2-over 74 to tie for 26th. Monday, Soucinek had three birdies.

Noah Endicott rounded out the lineup with a 37th place finish with a score of 229 (78-76-75).

The Fire will close out their fall season on October 29 at Doral for the annual Adamonis Invitational.
