Franz and Hand Post 1000 Career Digs in Bethel’s 3-1 Win Over Lancers

MISHAWAKA, Ind. —The Bethel Pilots (11-8, 3-3) defeated the Grace College Lancers (10-8, 3-3) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in the Gates Gymnasium. 

Pilots Jess Hand and Paige Franz each recorded 1000 career digs. The milestone comes at an excellent time, as Saturday also marked Paige Franz’s birthday. 

Ainsley Tacke totaled 15 kills and recorded one ace. 

Haley Biedenbach totaled 42 assists over the four set matchup, while also posting an impressive three aces. 

Taylor Delp led the Bethel blocking efforts with six (five assisted, one solo). 

Liberty Pierson shared, “Great day to be a Pilot! Proud of us pulling it together in the fourth set after losing momentum in the third. We really played for each other and to honor the Lord today!”

Head Coach Erica Dregits shared, “I am really proud of the way our team battled today. On a day where we celebrated two individual player milestones, I feel we had a really good team performance.”

The Bethel Pilots will face their next Crossroads League opponent, the Spring Arbor University Cougars (15-3, 3-3), on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The first serve against the No. 23 Ranked Opponent is set for 7:00 PM in the American 1 Credit Union Arena.
