Palm Coast, Fla. — Sophomore sensation Jonah Kumfer (Granger, IN) birdied the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, becoming the first men’s golfer in school history to win an individual National Championship.
Kumfer’s 3-day total of 75-70-73 (218) left him tied with Malone University’s Connor Curry, but it took just one hole to decide the winner when Kumfer dialed in a pitching wedge to 5 feet and made the putt.
Despite an eighth-place finish, it was a strong showing for the Pilots, who fired consistent scores of 315-318-316 (949).
The championship appearance is the last event on the schedule until the spring of 2023.
