2025 UTR NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship Recap – Day Two

GAME NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Battle of the “SCAD’s” ensued for the first time in either program’s history, despite being about a four-hour drive from each other, and SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) defeated SCAD Savannah (Ga.) 4-1.
  • Tennessee Wesleyan defeated William Carey (Miss.) 4-0 for the first time in the series history to advance to the quarterfinals.
  • Middle Georgia State survives 4-3 against LSU Alexandria (La.) in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. MGA improves its National Tournament record to 7-7 in its eighth appearance.
  • Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) swept Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) 4-0 with wins in doubles two and three, one singles, three singles, and five singles.
  • Loyola (La.) bested Marian (Ind.) 4-1 and returns to the quarterfinals, and looks to avenge their loss to Georgia Gwinnett in the 2024 National Tournament.
  • Georgia Gwinnett swept Holy Cross (Ind.), which marks the elimination of all four Indiana teams in the tournament field.
  • Keiser (Fla.) swept Northwestern Ohio to eliminate the last northern team in the field and leave only southern teams in the tournament field.
  • Xavier (La.) upset Southeastern (Fla.) to complete the second round with a 4-2 win.
