NOTRE DAME, Ind. â€” The Holy Cross College men’s soccer team came up just short in a high-scoring match Wednesday night, falling 4–3 to Trinity Christian College at Saints Field.

Trinity Christian struck early, taking a 1–0 lead in the sixth minute, but the Saints quickly answered. In the 30th minute, Xavier Fox found the back of the net off an assist from Nathan Sanchez, tying the game 1–1. The Trolls regained the 2-1 lead before halftime and extended it to 4–1 midway through the second half.

Holy Cross refused to go down quietly. Andrew Koshakji sparked the comeback effort with a goal in the 83rd minute, and less than a minute later, Anthony Panayiotou scored off a setup from Isaac Contreras to pull the Saints within one. Despite the late surge, the Saints couldn’t find the equalizer before the final whistle.

The Saints outshot Trinity Christian 18–11 and earned two corner kicks to the Trolls’ three. Goalkeeper Isaias Rubio recorded three saves, while Logan Kelly added two in relief.

Holy Cross moves to 8–5 overall and 5–1 in CCAC play.

The Saints will look to bounce back in their next outing as they continue conference action, on the road, on Saturday October 25th against Olivet Nazarene. Kickoff is set for 5pm!
