CROWN POINT, Ind. — The Holy Cross College men’s soccer team continued their dominant conference run with a 3-0 victory over Governors State on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Saints improve to 7-4-0 overall and 4-0-0 in CCAC play, remaining undefeated in conference action.

After a scoreless first half, the Saints came out of the break with renewed energy and precision. Daniel Alfaro opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, finishing a setup from Diego Blount and Nathan Sanchez. Just four minutes later, Diego Martinez doubled the lead with an unassisted strike to put Holy Cross firmly in control. The Saints sealed the result in the 65th minute when Nikolas Panayiotou netted the team’s third goal off an assist from Cung Thawng.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper Isaias Rubio was outstanding, recording 10 saves to secure the clean sheet — one of his best performances of the season. The Saints’ back line held firm, fending off 22 total shots from the Jaguars while maintaining composure throughout a physical contest that saw multiple cards issued to both sides.

Holy Cross will look to extend its unbeaten conference streak as they continue CCAC play this weekend at home against St. Francis (IL) on Saturday, October 11th. Kickoff is set for 7:00PM!
