IUSB Men’s rolls past Lawrence Tech 80-61

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (1-1, 0-0 CCAC) defeated the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils (0-1, 0-0 Conf.) by a final score of 80-61.

A hot IU South Bend offense came storming out of the gate, scoring the games first 12 points to jump out to an early lead within the first five minutes of Tuesday’s contest.

The Titans kept their foot on the gas pedal, leading by as much as 20 points in the first help t0 help them take a 45-27 lead going into halftime.

Lawrence Tech made some halftime adjustments to get themselves closer in the second half with the Titans outscoring the Blue Devils by just one point in the second half, still the Titans went home victorious, defeating Lawrence Tech by a final score of 80-61.

The IU South Bend offense featured three different players to score in double figures, again led by junior forward Nick Mullen who finished with 28 points.

Mullen’s 28 points came on an efficient 90% shooting from the field, while knocking down three of the three pointers he attempted while also shooting 7-8 from the free throw line.

The next Titan to score double digits was senior guard Quentez Columbus who finished with 13 points.

Columbus’ 13 points came on 5-13 shooting from the field while also knocking down three triples and leading the Titans in assists.

The last Titan to post double digits in the scoring column was Freshman forward Collin Schmidt who finished with 11 points.

Schmidt’s 11 points came on 66% shooting from the field while also knocking down both of the free throws that he attempted and securing five rebounds.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, November 2nd, when they host Alma College at 2:00 PM ET in the Student Activities Center.
