Athlete of the Week- Nathan Sanchez

After two great games this past week by Freshman, FB,  Nathan Sanchez from West Chicago Community High School, IL, and the rest of the Men’s Soccer Team, Holy Cross Athletics has chosen to give Sanchez our very first Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week award.

The Saints faced-off against Goshen College and Lourdes this past week and, in both games, Nathan had crucial assists from corner kicks, and his defensive skills also shined this week. In the game against Goshen, Holy Cross was down 0-1 when Nathan assisted Freshman , FB Eric Johnson from Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN,  for his first collegiate goal to tie the game for the Saints.

Later in the week, in the match against Lourdes, Holy Cross took a late lead with another assist from Sanchez. Nathan assisted Sophomore RB Anthony Panayiotou from Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, VA, off a well-placed corner kick giving the team the lead with 1:21 left in the match.

After a 1-1 score with Goshen and beating Lourdes 1-0, the Saints sit at 2-3-1 with 2 games before CCAC conference play starts. Nathan and the Saints are back in action at home this Saturday, September 14th at 12:00 pm against Oakland City.
