The Holy Cross College women’s basketball team closed out play before Thanksgiving break with an emphatic 94–54 victory over Mount Mary on Tuesday evening inside McKenna Arena. The Saints controlled the matchup from start to finish, posting season highs in scoring, assists, and total rebounds.
Holy Cross (3–5, 2–2 CCAC) came out strong with a 20-point opening quarter and never looked back, stretching its lead to 46–23 at halftime behind efficient shooting and relentless defensive pressure.
Sincere Coleman-Francis led the way with a near double-double, scoring 8 points while pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds and grabbing 3 steals. Lilly Toppen paced the Saints offensively with 15 points on an efficient 4-of-6 from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
The balanced Saints offense showcased its depth, with 9 different players scoring at least 6 points. Off the bench, Brock Bittermann and Laney Hawkins each added 15 and 14 points respectively, combining to shoot an impressive 12-of-16 from the floor. Malea Steele chipped in 12 points and 2 steals, giving Holy Cross a strong spark throughout the second half.
Audrey Tallent added 14 points with 3 assists and 3 steals, while Allie Caldwell contributed 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Saints dominated the rebounding battle 51–34 and forced 18 Mount Mary turnovers, converting them into 29 points the other way.
Holy Cross shot 45.9% from the field and outscored Mount Mary 52–30 in the second half, building its largest lead of 40 points in the final minute.
The Saints return to action after the holiday break on Thursday December 4th. They will look to build on tonight’s momentum and continue their strong conference stretch. Tipoff is set for 6:00PM!
