Holy Cross WBB upends GSU 63-56

Notre Dame, Ind. The Holy Cross women’s basketball returned to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play when they hosted Governors State University this afternoon in McKenna Arena. This was the second meeting between the two teams with the Jaguars hold the 64-59 victory over the Saints back on Wednesday, November 17. Holy Cross found themselves down 18-14 after the first quarter but would outscore Governors State 10-6 in the second quarter to even the game up 24-24 entering halftime. The Saints held the Jaguars to only two points for the first six and a half minutes of the third quarter, as they would enter the final quarter with a 43-35 lead. Holy Cross extended their lead to 12 points late in the fourth and were able to withstand the GSU comeback late to take the 63-56 victory. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 13-11 overall and 8-9 in league play, while GSU falls to 7-16 and 6-10.
