Hoosiers Earn Special Mention on 2022-23 WBCA Academic Honor Roll
ATLANTA – With a cumulative 3.553 GPA for the 2022-23 season, the Indiana women’s basketball team earned a special mention on the WBCA Academic Top 25. The Hoosiers finished 29th out of all Division I teams for the academic year.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2022-23 season is the 28th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
Indiana heads into the 2023-24 season with four starters returning from a team that went 28-4 overall, was a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and won the program’s first-ever outright Big Ten regular season championship. Headlining the list of returnees is graduate student forward Mackenzie Holmes, who earned First-Team All-America honors after ranking seventh nationally in scoring (22.3) last season. Four other All-Big Ten selections will also be back for the Hoosiers including seniors Sydney Parrish and Chloe Moore-McNeil along with graduate student guard Sara Scalia and sophomore guard Yarden Garzon.
The team has departed for its first foreign tour in six years as it will travel to Greece on Aug. 1-10. The Hoosiers will play two games in the country along with multiple stops for sightseeing.
