Hot Scoring Leads IU Over ULM

 

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  â€“  Senior guard Shay Ciezki dropped her third 30-point game of the season as the Indiana women’s basketball team shot 64.2 percent from the floor in a 98-54 win over ULM on Thursday night. 

 

KEY MOMENTS

  • Ciezki scored or assisted on the first 10 points for the Hoosiers, giving them a 10-2 lead with 4:51 into the first. 
  • IU (9-2) went on a 20-10 run in the second quarter to extend the lead to 40-19 with 1:52 left in the quarter. Indiana held ULM (5-4) to a 25.7 field goal percentage (9-35) in the first half.  
  • Redshirt sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont highlighted the Hoosiers’ offensive efforts in the second half, scoring 16 of her 18 points after the break. 
  • Indiana closed out the game on a 24-7 run in the last 7:30 of the fourth quarter and shot a blistering 68.8 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the 3-point line in the last 10 minutes alone. 

 

NOTABLE

  • The Hoosiers went 34-for-53 (64.2%) from the field, notching the sixth-best field goal percentage in a single game in school history.
  • From three, Indiana knocked down a season-high 13 triples and shot 54.2 percent on the evening.  
  • Indiana’s 98 points was a season-high. 
  • Freshman forward Maya Makalusky notched a season and career high 22 points, going 8-for-12 shooting and 6-for-10 from beyond the arc.  The Fishers, Ind. Native also made her first career start for IU. 
  • Ciezki led the team with 31 points, her ninth-straight game scoring over 20, while going a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe and shooting 12-of-17 from the field.  
  • The home team totaled a season-high 20 assists Beaumont leading the team with five and sophomore guard Phoenix Stotijn, sophomore guard Valentyna Kadlecova and Makalusky each adding three.
