Abbott inducted into Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Over the weekend, Huntington University baseball pitching coach Brian Abbott was inducted into the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Coach Abbott is in his 15th year of working with the Forester baseball program. After serving as an assistant at Huntington from 1998-2007, he spent a season on staff at Manchester University and then five years at Indiana Wesleyan before returning to HU. To date, Abbott has coached 12 Forester All-Conference honorees which includes most recently the Crossroads League 2019 Pitcher of the Year Alex McCutcheon.

Abbott’s resume also includes 21 years as a high school coach at Eastbrook and Huntington North where he racked up over 300 wins, seven county championships, four conference titles, three sectional crowns, a regional title and a final four appearance in 1999.

In addition to his coaching prowess, Abbott was also an accomplished player. He was a four-year varsity pitcher at Delphi High School before pitching collegiately at Huntington College where he obtained a BS in Mathematics Education. He holds a master’s degree in Mathematics and School Administration from Ball State University. He currently serves as a math teacher at Riverview Middle School.

He and his wife Trisha have two children Tyler (wife Chelsie and son Quinn) and Briley.
