Illinois and Nebraska Earn Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors

Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn Named Player of the Week

 

Player of the Week

Kofi Cockburn, Illinois

C – Jr. – 7-0 – Kingston, Jamaica – Oak Hill Academy (Va.)

  • Averaged 27.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 1.0 block, and 0.5 assists per game in Illinois’ two victories last week
  • Tallied 37 points, 12 rebounds, and a block in an 80-67 win over No. 11 Wisconsin
  • His 37 points tied the season high for most points in a Big Ten game, and his 16 field goals were the most against a ranked opponent this season in the NCAA
  • Recorded 17 points, eight rebounds, two steals, an assist, and a block in a 74-57 win at Indiana
  • Earns his fourth career Player of the Week honor

  • Averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 assist in Nebraska’s two games last week
  • Recorded 24 points, six rebounds, three steals, and an assist against Michigan
  • Marked the fourth consecutive game scoring at least 20 points, the most ever for a freshman in school history
  • Scored 10 points and added three rebounds and an assist against Northwestern
  • Earns his fifth career Freshman of the Week honor
