Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska and Penn State Capture Big Ten Weekly Volleyball Awards

Hoosiers’ Cerame and Haworth, Terrapins’ Russ, Huskers’ Kubik and Nittany Lions’ Markley chosen for this week’s conference honors

Player of the Week

Madi Kubik, Nebraska

Sr. – OH – West Des Moines, Iowa – Valley – Graduate Program: Applied Science

• Registered 5.33 points, 5.17 kills and 3.33 digs per set with a .347 hitting percentage last week to pace No. 6 Nebraska to sweeps of Iowa and No. 19 Purdue

• Tallied a season-high 17 kills and 11 digs while hitting .311 in Sunday’s win over Purdue

• Added 14 kills, nine digs and hit .407 in the Nov. 18 victory over Iowa

• Garnered five Academic All-Big Ten honors during her career (fall 2020 and 2021 for indoor volleyball; spring 2020, 2021, 2022 as at-large while competing in beach volleyball)

• Captures her fourth career Player of the Week citation

• Last Nebraska Player of the Week: Madi Kubik (Oct. 18, 2021)

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Paula Cerame, Indiana

• Averaged 5.2 digs per set last week as Indiana claimed back-to-back five-set wins over Northwestern and at No. 5 Ohio State

• Registered her first double-double of the season (career highs of 29 digs and 12 assists) in Sunday’s historic victory at Ohio State, the Hoosiers’ first-ever top-five road win

• Added 23 digs in the Nov. 18 win over Northwestern

• Collects her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Anastasia Russ, Maryland

RS-Jr. – MB – Pittsburgh, Pa. – Hampton – Major: Pre-Med

• Amassed 4.06 points, 2.5 kills and 2.13 blocks per set in a 1-1 week for Maryland

• Tied her season high with 11 blocks (including seven solos) in the Terrapins’ four-set home win over No. 5 Ohio State on Nov. 18

• Contributed 13 kills and six blocks the following night against Michigan

• Earns her second career Defensive Player of the Week honor, both this season

Setter of the Week

Camryn Haworth, Indiana

So. – Fishers, Ind. – Fishers – Major: Human Biology

• Averaged 8.2 assists, 2.7 digs, 2.5 points, 1.8 kills and 1.1 blocks per set last week to spark Indiana to wins over Northwestern and at No. 5 Ohio State

• Posted a triple-double (the second by a Big Ten player this season) in the Nov. 18 win over Northwestern, compiling 37 assists, 11 digs and 10 kills, along with seven blocks

• Recorded a double-double in Sunday’s win at OSU with 45 assists, 16 digs, eight kills and four blocks, pacing the Hoosiers to the first top-five road victory in program history

• Receives her first career Setter of the Week selection

• Last Indiana Setter of the Week: N/A (Haworth is the first Indiana honoree in this category since the award was first presented in 2012)

Freshman of the Week

Alexa Markley, Penn State

• Tallied 2.67 points, 2.44 kills and 0.44 blocks per set last week as Penn State split top-10 matchups with No. 9 Minnesota and No. 3 Wisconsin

• Gathered 11 kills in each match, adding three blocks and hitting .321 in the Nov. 18 victory over the ninth-ranked Golden Gophers

• Garners her second career Freshman of the Week award
