Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State Earn Big Ten Weekly Women’s Soccer Honors
Hoosiers’ Smith, Spartans’ White, Buckeyes’ Fischer and Nittany Lions’ Asman named this week’s conference award recipients

Offensive Player of the Week
Kayla Fischer, Ohio State
Grad. – F – Kent, Ohio – Theodore Roosevelt – Graduate Program: Nursing
• Piled up nine points (four goals, one assist) last week to help No. 20 Ohio State earn a pair of conference wins over Maryland and Illinois
• Posted her first career hat trick and added an assist in Sunday’s 6-1 win at Illinois, giving her at least one goal in her last five matches
• Her seven points at Illinois are also the most by a Big Ten Conference student-athlete in a match this season, as well as the fifth hat trick by a Big Ten player in 2022
• A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (2019, 2020, 2021)
• Garners her fourth career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award and second this season
• Last Ohio State Offensive Player of the Week: Kayla Fischer (Oct. 4, 2022)

Defensive Player of the Week
Samantha White, Michigan State
Grad. – D – McKees Rocks, Pa. – Montour – Graduate Program: Lifelong Education
• Anchored the defensive unit for No. 15 Michigan State last week, pacing the Spartans to wins over Indiana and No. 5 Northwestern to take over first place in the Big Ten Conference standings
• Scored her first goal of the season (second of her career) in Sunday’s win at Northwestern, helping Michigan State to its third Top 25 win of the season
• Also contributed to MSU’s shutout of Indiana on Oct. 13, the Spartans’ 10th clean sheet of the campaign
• Chosen for Academic All-Big Ten honors three times (2019, 2020, 2021) and was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar the past two seasons (2020, 2021)
• Secures her first career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award
• Last Michigan State Defensive Player of the Week: Michaela Kovacs (Sept. 4, 2018)

Goalkeeper of the Week
Katherine Asman, Penn State
RS-Sr. – Roswell, Ga. – Roswell – Graduate Program: Management and Organizational Leadership
• Registered a pair of shutouts and made a combined six saves last week as No. 25 Penn State defeated Wisconsin and Michigan
• Tallied four saves in Sunday’s win over Michigan, recording her third consecutive shutout
• Collected Academic All-Big Ten recognition the past three seasons (2019, 2020, 2021) and is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar (2020, 2021)
• Earns her fourth career Goalkeeper of the Week honor and second this season
• Last Penn State Goalkeeper of the Week: Katherine Asman (Sept. 27, 2022)

Freshman of the Week
Olivia Smith, Indiana
M – Fishers, Ind. – Hamilton Southeastern – Major: Biology
• Scored her first collegiate goal in the 28th minute of Sunday’s 2-2 draw with visiting in-state rival Purdue
• Helped the Hoosiers score multiple goals against the Boilermakers for the first time since Oct. 22, 2016 (another 2-2 deadlock, this time in West Lafayette)
• Receives her first career Freshman of the Week citation
