Indiana, Purdue and USC Score Big Ten Weekly Women’s Basketball Awards

Hoosiers’ Ciezki, Boilermakers’ Karsh and Trojans’ Davidson capture weekly honors

 

Player of the Week

Shay Ciezki, Indiana

Sr. – Guard – Buffalo, N.Y. – St. Mary’s

  • Averaged 28.5 points while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 56.3 percent from beyond the arc during Indiana’s 2-0 start to the season
  • Added 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals
  • Went a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line
  • Chipped in 22 points, five rebounds and three assists against Lipscomb
  • Set a new career high with 35 points on 12-for-21 shooting and connected on seven three-pointers versus UIC
  • Earns her first Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Big Ten Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Berry Wallace, ILL: Put together 24.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists across 69 minutes of combined action in Illinois’ pair of victories

Ava Heiden, IOWA: Posted 17.5 points and 12.0 rebounds on her way to becoming the 15th Hawkeye to record a 20-point double-double

Grace Sullivan, NU: Averaged 21.5 points and 12.0 rebounds, including an 18-point, 18-rebound performance against IU Indy

 

Co-Freshman of the Week

Hila Karsh, Purdue

Guard – Rishon LeZion, Israel – Realit Gymnasium

  • Tallied 12 points with five boards, two assists, one block and one steal in her collegiate debut versus FDU
  • Dropped 24 points, went 5-for-7 from behind the arc, pulled down seven rebounds and dished four assists against Eastern Illinois
  • Became the first Purdue freshman with a 20-point, five-three-pointer, five-rebound effort since the 2010-11 season
  • Collects her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week laurel

Guard – Clackamas, Ore. – Clackamas

  • Put up 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in her debut against New Mexico State
  • Also went 6-for-7 at the charity stripe against the Aggies
  • Notched a career-high 21 points with five blocks, four assists and three steals in the Trojans’ upset of No. 9 NC State
  • Scored the game-winning basket with eight seconds remaining in the contest to take down the Wolfpack
  • Secures her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor
