Indiana Upends No. 8 Ohio State, 71-61

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –  Four Hoosiers scored in double figures as Indiana shot over 50 percent from the field and the 3-point line in a 71-61 victory over No. 8 Ohio State on Thursday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
KEY MOMENTS
- Parrish was 4-for-5 early on with 12 points to help Indiana (17-9, 9-6 B1G) break open the game in the first. Indiana’s defense held the Buckeyes (22-4, 11-4 B1G) to no points in the final 3:08 of the frame to take a 26-17 leadgoing into the second.
- Ohio State attempted to claw back to start the second, going on a 9-0 run and tying the game up at 26-all with 7:30 remaining.
- After that mark, the Hoosiers allowed just two more points for the rest of the quarter as it went on a 13-2 to and lead 40-28 at the break. It was part of a blistering effort from the floor in the first half for IU, who went 62.5 percent overall.
- Indiana’s lead grew to as many as 18 late in the third quarter as continued scoring efforts as opportunities from downtown helped the lead climb up to 18, as Garzon and Parrish both found room beyond the arc.
- Hoosier defensive efforts held Ohio State to a drought from the field that lasted over 3:30 minutes once again in the fourth quarter. Senior forward Karoline Striplin took her chance in the paint to put up two baskets to make it a double-digit advantage.

- This win marks the team’s first against a Top 10 opponent this season and second-straight season with a Top 10 victory.
- Indiana has now won six of the last seven in the series against Ohio State.
- Junior Yarden Garzon earned her first double-double of the season with 16 points and tied a season-high 11 rebounds. It marks the second double-double of her collegiate career. The Ra’anana, Israel native also dished out a team-high six assists.
- Garzon also reached her 200th career 3-pointer, shooting 50 percent for the night from behind the arc.
- Garzon, Parrish and junior guard Shay Ciezki tied for a team-high with 16 points each.
- This was the Hoosiers tenth game this season shooting 50 percent or better from the field.
- On the boards, Indiana dominated with a 34-20 edge behind Garzon’s 11 rebounds. Parrish added six while Striplin had five.
- The Hoosiers assisted on 21 of its 25 made shots led by Garzon’s six and four each from Moore-McNeil and Parrish.
