Holmes Named To 2022 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Midseason Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana junior forward Mackenzie Holmes was named one of 20 to the 2022 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Player of the Year midseason team.

Holmes is averaging a team-high 17.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and shooting 61.5 percent from the floor in 14 games. She has scored in double figures in 13 of 14 games, recorded three double-doubles and averages 1.9 blocks per game. Holmes currently ranks sixth in school history with 134 career blocks and became the 30th member of IU’s 1,000-point club earlier this season. She has been sidelined with a knee injury since Jan. 5.

The Gorham, Maine native is making her first appearance on the Naismith Trophy watch list this season as she has also appeared on the 2022 Lisa Leslie Award watch list and Wooden Award midseason Top 25. She was also a 2021-22 preseason All-Big Ten honoree, The Athletic preseason All-American honorable mention and two-time Big Ten Player of the Week.
