GARY, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (5-1, 0-1 CCAC) dropped their CCAC opener to the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks (6-1, 1-0 CCAC) by a final score of 77-69 for their first loss of the season.

Both teams traded blows in the first two quarters of Wednesday’s CCAC opener with the Titans outscoring the RedHawks by two in the first quarter and one in the second quarter.

CCAC First Team All-Conference selections Tenleigh Phelps and IUN guard Jessica Carrothers picked up right where they left off last year, with Carrothers scoring 18 points in the first half and Phelps scoring 17 points in the first half to help IU South Bend take a 37-34 lead into halftime.

A 19-11 run to win the third quarter put IU Northwest on top 53-48 going into Wednesday’s final period.

IU South Bend pulled to within four with just over one minute to play in the game but could not get any closer, falling to the RedHawks of IU Northwest 77-69.

25 Points for Tenleigh Phelps led the Titans while shooting 50% from the field and the three point line in a team high 38 minutes of playing time.

20 points from freshman guard Aubrie Booker proved to be a season best for the freshman doing so while only missing two shots from the field (7-9).

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, November 23rd, when they travel to Whiting, Ind., to take on the Crimson Wave of Calumet College of St. Joseph at 2:00 PM ET.
