IU South Bend Baseball concludes weekend with doubleheader losses to Tennessee Southern

PULASKI, Tenn.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (1-6, 0-0 CCAC) dropped a pair of games to the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks (7-2, 0-0 MSC) by scores of 5-3 and 10-6.

Game 1

Senior right handed pitcher Bryson Taylor got the start on the mound for the Titans in game one, pitching two innings allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out two.

A three run Firehawk third inning found the Titans trailing 4-0 through three innings.

Kaleb Farnham provided the scoring for IU South Bend with a fourth inning bases clearing double that pulled the Titans within one at 4-3 headed into the bottom of the fourth.

A sixth inning insurance run for Tennessee Southern capped off the games scoring as IU South Bend ultimately fell to the Firehawks by a final score of 5-3.

Game 2

Kage Haeck earned the start and the loss for IU South Bend in game two, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out one.

Trailing 2-0 at the end of one inning, the Titans answered with two runs of their own in the second thanks to a wild pitch and an error by Tennessee Southern.

The Firehawks saw the Titans two and raised them four with a four run second inning that found the Titans trailing 6-2 headed into the third.

A Devin Smith groundout scored Logan Smith to cut the IU South Bend deficit to 6-3. However, Tennessee Southern answered back with two runs of their own in the third to better their lead to 8-3.

RBI’s by Devin and Logan Smith cut the Firehawk lead to 8-6 headed into the bottom of the fourth.

A two run homerun by Tennessee Southern clean up hitter Landon Rogers provided the Firehawks with all the insurance they needed as they went to to win game two by a score of 10-6.

Indiana University South Bend returns to action on Friday, February 17th, when they travel to Canton, Missouri, for two doubleheaders against Culver-Stockton College.
