On Saturday, August 26th, The Indiana University South Bend Titans (2-0, 0-0 CCAC) defeated the Crusaders of Great Lakes Christian College by a score of 2-1. Saturday’s win extends the Titans winning streak to two consecutive games, the best start in school history.

Senior forward Katie Jones got the scoring started for the IU South Bend Titans with an unassisted goal in the second minute of Saturday’s contest.

Great Lakes Christian responded in the 19th minute of Saturday’s contest when sophomore midfielder Avery Carr found the back of the net on a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.

In the 22nd minute, Katie Jones scored her second goal of the game with an assist from sophomore Haylie Rodriguez to put IU South Bend back on top 2-1. Jones has scored multiple goals in each game this season and currently has all four goals for the Titans this year.

The second period of Saturday’s game was scoreless, with freshman goalkeeper Rylee Cotton blanking the Crusaders by saving three shots, helping IU South Bend hold on for a 2-1 victory. Cotton has allowed just one goal in two games on the 2023 campaign.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Wednesday, August 30th, when they host the Foresters of Huntington University in their first home game of the season at 5:00 PM at Newton Park.
