IUSB men’s basketball earn 77-75 road win at Trinity Christian College

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (5-5, 2-1 CCAC) defeated the Trinity Christian College Trolls (2-6, 0-3 CCAC) by a final score of 77-75 to imrpove to 2-1 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Titans were bested in the first half by an efficient Trinity Christian offense that shot nearly 50% from the field in the first 20 minutes of play.

Back and forth through most of the first half, the Trolls closed out the first half on a 9-3 run to take a 40-27 lead heading into the locker room.

The second half proved to be all Titans as IU South Bend outscored Trinity Christian 50-35 in the period to escape with a two point win. Both Collin Schmidt and Deshon Burnett scored in double figures in the second half to help lead IUSB to victory.

Four Titans scored double digits in Saturday’s narrow victory, led by freshman Collin Schmidt who finished with 21 points.

Schmidt’s 21 points came on 75% shooting from the field while also knocking down three three pointers.

The next Titan in the scoring column was junior forward Nick Mullen who finished with 15 points.

Mullen also recorded 10 rebounds on Saturday to post his fourth double-double od the season.

The other Titans to notch double figures were Jylen Petty who finished with 11 points, Kyle Millender who finished with 10 points and Deshon Burnett who finished with 10 points.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Tuesday, December 10th, when they host the Governors State University Jaguars at 7:30 PM ET in the Student Activities Center.
