IUSB WBB falls to Spring Arbor 66-58

South Bend, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball team fell 66-58 in a close game to Spring Arbor University on Saturday afternoon. In a game which saw seven ties with each team taking the lead four different times, the visiting team was able to pull away the victory.

Spring Arbor jumped out to the quick lead going up 5-0 on the Titans in the first quarter. However, with 3:03 left in the quarter, the Titans were able to take their first lead of the day on a Taitlyn Trenshaw (SO/Nappanee, Indiana) three pointer. Trenshaw would once again hit a three pointer with 3 seconds left, to give the Titans a 17-10 edge at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter started a bit dry for both teams, before Spring Arbor pulled within five points with 7:53 remaining. IUSB would head into the locker room at half time tied with Spring Arbor with the score being 28-28.

Spring Arbor would control much of the third quarter, however, Kylie Fehrman (SO/Griffith, Indiana) would keep the Titans within reach with a free throw, jumper, and three pointer within a two minute time span. The sophomore would finish with a game high 19 points.

The fourth quarter saw lots of back and forth action, with Spring Arbor pulling away in the final minutes connecting on 13 free throws to clinch the victory. Trenshaw would finish the game with 10 points, Kyleigh Kubik (JR/LaPorte, Indiana) chipped in nine points, and Courtney Raymer(SO/Southport, Indiana) came off the bench to tally eight points. Taylor Wesley (JR/South Bend, Indiana) finished with 9 rebounds, while Courtney Haynes (SO/Marion, Indiana) pulled down six boards.

The Titans will next travel to Indiana University Kokomo in Kokomo, Ind. on Wednesday, October 31st. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. ET
