SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (10-2, 4-2 CCAC) dropped their Saturday CCAC match up to the Governors State Jaguars (10-2, 5-1 CCAC) by a final score of 82-66.

Governors State jumped out to an early 6-2 start to begin the game before the Titans came back to shorten their deficit to 12-11 as the game remained back and forth through the remainder of the first quarter.

The jaguars continued their momentum through the second quarter, outscoring IU South Bend 16-14 in the period to take a 39-31 lead into halftime.

A 10-2 opening third quarter run allowed Governors State to grow a comfortable 16 point lead early on in the second half.

The Titans shrunk their deficit to 12 points thanks to two made free throws from Tenleigh Phelps to end the quarter, still IUSB trailed 61-49 going into Saturday’s final period.

Tied for their highest scoring quarter of the game, Indiana University South Bend tallied 17 points in the fourth quarter, still not enough to comeback as the Titans fell to the Governors State University Jaguars by a final score of 82-66.

A subdued IUSB offense featured two Titans to score in double figures, led by Tenleigh Phelps who finished with a team high 22 points

Phelps’s 22 points came on 70% shooting from the field (7-10) while knocking down seven of the nine free throws that she attempted.

The other Titan to score in double figures was guard Jazmen Watts who finished with 17 points.

Watts’ 17 points came on nearly 50% shooting from the field while also converting on three shots from beyond the three point arc.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, January 4th, when they host the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech University at 1:00 PM ET in the Student Activities Center.
