SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (22-0, 14-0 CCAC) defeated the Governors State University Jaguars (17-5, 11-3 CCAC) by a final score of 77-67.

Saturday’s victory keeps the Titans perfect season intact and gives IUSB a regular season sweep over second place Governors State.

Ahead 7-6 early in the first quarter, IU South Bend went on a 9-2 run to jump put to an eight point lead.

Outscored by five and six in the second and third quarters, IU South Bend entered the fourth quarter trailing for only the second time this season.

A monster fourth quarter saw the Titans outscore the Jaguars 24-10 thanks to eight points from Maddie Gard and six points from Tenleigh Phelps to help lead IUSB to victory by a final score of 77-67.

Four of the five starters for the Titans finished scoring in double figures, led by Maddie Gard who finished with a team high 26 points.

Gard’s 26 points came on nearly 50% shooting from the field (8-17) while tying a career high by knocking down 10 free throws.

A herculean effort from Gard saw her play all 40 minutes of Saturday’s contest while also posting 11 rebounds to earn her third double-double in the last four games.

The next Titan to score in double figures was Tenleigh Phelps who finished with 15 points.

Phelps’ 15 points came on just nine shots while knocking down two three point field goals and hauling in 12 rebounds and playing in all 40 minutes as well. With 15 points and 12 rebounds Phelps posted her team leading sixth double-double of the season.

The next Titan to reach double figures in the scoring column was guard Emma Fisher who finished with 14 points.

Fisher’s 14 points came on five made field goals and four made free throws while securing 10 rebounds, making her the third different Titan to reach double-double status. With 14 points in Saturday’s win, Fisher has scored in double figures in back to back games for the first time this season.

The last Titan to score in double figures was senior guard Jazmen Watts who finished with 11 points.

Watts’ 11 points came on 50% shooting from the field while also knocking down three triples for the fifth time this season.

11 points in Saturday’s win keeps Watts on the brink of cracking the top ten in scoring in the CCAC.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Wednesday, February 7th, when they travel to Whiting, Ind., to take on the Calumet College of St. Joseph Crimson Wave at 6:00 PM ET.
