IUSB’s Dejon Barney named NAIA All American for second straight year

SOUTH BEND, Ind.– On Tuesday, April 2nd, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their selections for the 2023-2024 Men’s Basketball NAIA All American Teams.

Indiana University South Bend Titans senior forward Dejon Barney was honored as an NAIA Third Team All American selection.

Fresh off of his NAIA All American Honorable Mention 2022-2023 season, Barney picked up right where he left off, leading IU South Bend in points per game with 18.6, rebounds per game with 9.8, and field goal percentage at 58.7% all while helping lead the Titans to 22 wins and a CCAC Tournament Championship appearance.

The 1st Team All CCAC and five time CCAC Player of the week set single season program records with 303 total rebounds, 106 offensive rebounds, 9.8 rebounds per game, and 230 field goals made. The 6’9 forward also finished fifth in single season history with 578 total points and tenth in single season history with 39 blocked shots.

Coming into this season, Barney already held program single game records for most points in a game with 38 and most total rebounds in a game with 21. This season, Dejon broke the single game record for offensive rebounds in a game, finishing with 14 in a win over Trinity Christian on January 27th.

Dejon Barney concludes his illustrious IU South Bend career with 986 career points and 532 rebounds and leaves the Titans as the only player in Indiana University South Bend Men’s Basketball program history to be named an NAIA All American twice in his career.
