SOUTH BEND, Ind.- On Tuesday, October 4th, the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) league office announced Player of the Week awards for the week of September 26th. Two Titans were honored by the conference, Suriya Van der Oord earned Defender of the Week and McKenzie Powell earned Setter of the week, both for the second time this season.
Defensive Specialist Suriya Van der Oord averaged over five digs per set during the sevan-day span, posting a weekly high of 28 digs in a five-set victory over Trinity International.
Van der Oord currently ranks 8th in the CCAC with 247 digs for the year and 7th in digs per set, averaging 3.74.
Setter McKenzie Powell posted multiple double-doubles on her way to winning Setter of the Week, with 42 assists and 26 digs in a five-set victory of Trinity International, followed shortly by a 39 assist and 18 dig performance in a four-set vicotry over Saint. Francis.
Powell currently ranks 4th in the conference with 498 assists and 5th in the conference in assists per set with 7.43.
Stellar play from Van der Oord and Powell helped lead the Titans to a 3-0 week, moving them up to third place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
