  1. Penn (1-0): Jake Balis accounted for 94 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the Kingsmen’s 38-21 win at No. 1 and defending Class 5A state champion Valparaiso.
  2. Mishawaka (1-0): Ethan Bryce’s 82-yard return of the opening kickoff for a score lifted the No. 7 (Class 5A) Cavemen to a 44-12 win over rival Marian.
  3. NorthWood (1-0): Owen Roeder completed 18-of=22 for 316 yards with four touchdowns in the No. 7 (Class 4A) Panthers’ 42-22 win over Jimtown.
  4. Northridge (1-0): Brayden Clark was 14-of-23 for 203 yards with a score in the Raiders’ 26-13 win over No. 6 (Class 5A) Fort Wayne North.
  5. Glenn (1-0): Mason Kobelt raced 31 times for 208 yards with two touchdowns in the Falcons’ 43-26 win over Boone Grove.

HONORABLE MENTION

Concord (1-0): Hudson Glantz threw for 108 yards and two scores in the Minutemen’s 16-6 win over Elkhart.

Plymouth (1-0): Exzander Ramirez ran for 117 yards with two touchdowns and threw for 92 yards and another score as the Rockies snapped a 21-game losing streak with a 27-8 win over Calumet.

Riley (1-0): Austin White tossed for 76 yards with three touchdowns and ran for 33 yards and two scores in the Wildcats’ 48-12 win over Gary West.

Warsaw (1-0): Leyton Isbell’s 71=yard touchdown run was the difference as the Tigers rallied for a 17-13 win over Michigan Citu.

HELP WANTED

Adams (0-1): Braylon Williams registered 13 catches for 160 yards in the Eagles’ 21-14 loss to Culver Academy.

Bremen (0-1): Josh Flora managed a fumble recovery in the Lions’ 17-10 loss to No. 10 (Class 2A) LaVille.

Clay (0-1): Jamari Cherry came up with a nine-yard touchdown catch in the Colonials’ 30-18 loss to Hammond Bishop Noll.

Elkhart (0-1): Quinn Rost’s 90 yards passing was not enough for the Lions against Concord.

Goshen (0-1): Gabe Jinesse’s touchdown reception was one of the lone highlights in the RedHawks’ 29-6 loss to Fairfield.

Jimtown (0-1): Ty Zartman scampered five yards for a score for the Jimmies against NorthWood.

Marian (0-1): Brian Osman’s 92 yards rushing with a touchdown was not enough for the Knights against Mishawaka.

New Prairie (0-1): Owen Chalk converted a 31-yard field goal in the No. 5 (Class 4A) Cougars’ 20-18 loss at LaPorte.

Saint Joseph (0-1): Diamond Curry racked up a fumble recovery for Saint Joe in its 33=28 loss to Lakeland.

Washington (0-1): The Panthers were limited to six points in the opening half of their 34-12 loss at Hammond Central.

Wawasee (0-1): Hunter Tinkey accounted for a 64-yard touchdown reception in the Warriors’ 23-12 loss to Tippecanoe Valley.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Elkhart (0-1) at Northridge (1-0): The Lions are trying to avoid their first 0-2 start since 1949, while Northridge is looking to go 2-0 fir the fourth time in the last five years.

Jimtown (0-1) at Concord (1-0): The Jimmies are looking to halt a four-game losing streak against Concord.

Mishawaka (1-0) at Penn (1-0): The Kingsmen have taken eight of the previous nine meetings against Mishawaka.

Plymouth (1-0) at Columbia City (1-0): The Rockies’ last sectional crown came in 2015, while Columbia City snapped a 30-year drought with last year’s sectional title.

Riley (1-0) at Glenn (1-0): The Wildcats will look to stop a three-game losing skid to Glenn.
