FABULOUS FIVE

  1. Penn (7-1): Ryan Whiteman ran for 130 yards and a touchdown for the No. 5 (Class 6A) Kingsmen in a 20-17 win at No. 9 (Class 5A) Elkhart Central.
  2. NorthWood (8-0): Nic Bontrager’s fumble recovery helped the No. 2 (Class 4A) Panthers claim a 14-13 win over Warsaw.
  3. Mishawaka (7-1): Sam Shively tossed for 100 yards and two scores in the No. 4 (Class 4A) Cavemen’s 35-17 win over rival Marian.
  4. Michigan City (6-2): Lyric McFarrin scampered 19 times for 240 yards and three score for the No. 7 (Class 5A) Wolves in a 52-8 win over LaPorte.
  5. Plymouth (6-2): Blake Reed rambled 17 times for 202 yards and two touchdowns in the Rockies’ 49-31 win at Goshen.

HONORABLE MENTION

Bremen (7-1): Nathan Mullen tallied three touchdowns, but the No. 4 (Class 2A) Lions still came up on the short end of a 35-28 decision to Jimtown.

Culver Academy (5-2): Jordon Freeman’s 65-yard reception for a score was the difference for the Eagles in their 14-11 win at Saint Joseph.

LaVille (5-3): Andrew Dill had two scores on the ground and caught a pass for another tally in the Lancers’ 27-0 win over North Judson.

New Prairie (5-3): Chase Ketterer accounted for 37 carries for 244 yards and three scores in the Cougars’ 35-13 win over Riley.

Warsaw (6-2): Josh West ran and threw for touchdowns for the Tigers against NorthWood.

MAKING STRIDES

Adams (3-5): Ira Armstead tossed for 165 yards and ran for 148 yards and four scores as the Eagles snapped a four-game losing skid with a 28-7 win over Washington.

Concord (4-4): Ethan Cain’s 152 yards through the air in a 31-21 victory at Northridge allowed the Minutemen to end a two-game skid.

Elkhart Memorial (2-6): Ivan Soeun registered 222 yards rushing and two scores, helping the Chargers end their four-game losing streak with 45-32 victory against Wawasee.

Glenn (1-7): Garrett West registered a pair of touchdowns as the Falcons snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 51-0 blanking of Clay.

Jimtown (4-4): Riley Lundy found the end zone for the Jimmies against Bremen.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Clay (0-8): Quentin Rodriguez threw a pair of interceptions against Glenn as the Colonials suffered their 29th straight defeat.

Knox (5-3): Dawson Patrick’s 136 yards rushing and two scores couldn’t help the Redskins avoid a 14-12 loss to Triton for their second straight setback.

Northridge (4-4): Dominic Crowder came up with a 60-yard interception for a touchdown for the Raiders against Concord.

Riley (4-4): Jalen Cummings’ 90-yard kickoff return for a score was one of the few highlights for the Wildcats against New Prairie.

Wawasee (0-8): Evan Eshbach’s 451 yards passing and five touchdowns was not enough for the Warriors against Elkhart Memorial.

STAY TUNED

Bremen (7-1) at Culver Academy (5-2): In their last two meetings, the Eagles have outscored Bremen, 60-14.

Elkhart Central (4-4) at New Prairie (5-3): The Blazers’ four losses have come by a total of 15 points.

Marian (4-4) at Washington (3-5): The Knights can earn a share of the Northern Indiana Conference’s South Division title with a triumph over Washington at TCU School Field.

Mishawaka (7-1) at Penn (7-1): In this battle for the NIC North Division crown, the Cavemen are looking to halt a seven-game losing streak to Penn.

NorthWood (8-0) at Plymouth (6-2): If the Rockies can end a three-game skid to NorthWood, they will earn a share of the Northern Lakes Conference crown with the Panthers.
