FABULOUS FIVE

  1. Penn (6-1): Vince Horner returned a punt 75 yards in the No. 10 (Class 6A) Kingsmen’s 28-0 win over Saint Joseph.
  2. Northridge (6-1): Adam Sloop’s 19-yard touchdown run proved to be the difference in the No. 5 (Class 4A) Raiders’ 21-14 win over Concord.
  3. Mishawaka (5-2): Despite being stopped at the goal line on the potential game-winning two-point conversion, Novell Miiller still had 28 carries for 113 yards with three scores in the Cavemen’s 43-42 overtime loss to NorthWood.
  4. New Prairie (6-1): Marshall Kmiecik completed 9-of-17 passes for a school-record 306 yards with four scores and ran 15 times for 60 yards and another score in the No. 10 (Class 4A) Cougars’ 35-12 win over Riley.
  5. Warsaw (6-1): Robbie Hoffer’s one-yard touchdown run lifted the Tigers to a 22-15 win over Wawasee.

HONORABLE MENTION

Bremen (4-3): Austin Young registered 110 yards on the ground with a touchdown in the Lions’ 34-0 blanking of Prairie Heights.

Concord (4-3): Bi Brunner accounted for seven rushes for 107 yards with a touchdown for the Minutemen against Northridge.

Glenn (4-3): Julian McMahan returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in the Falcons’ 31-27 loss to No. 7 (Class 2A) LaVille.

NorthWood (5-2): In addition to catching a touchdown pass, Keith Miller also made the game-winning tackle in overtime for the Panthers against Mishawaka.

Riley (6-1): Dominick Jolley accounted for a pair of scores for the Wildcats against New Prairie.

MAKING STRIDES

Clay (1-6): Tyrese Jones caught touchdown passes of 17 and 55 yards and returned an interception 70 yards for another score as the Colonials ended a 34-game losing streak with a 54-0 blanking of North Newton.

Elkhart (3-4): Cade Tyrankowski hauled in a 43-yard pass for a score in the Lions’ 34-0 win over Adams.

Goshen (1-6): Aaron Mounsithiraj’s 23-yard field goal as time expired helped the RedHawks end a nine-game losing streak with a 24-21 win over Plymouth.

Jimtown (3-4): Ty Zartman registered three touchdowns in the Jimmies’ 35-0 win over Washington.

Marian (3-4): Deuce Owens recorded a 56-yard reception for a score in the Knights’ 39-14 win over Angola.

HELP WANTED

Adams (1-6): Marion Cathey recked up eight tackles for the Eagles against Elkhart.

Plymouth (2-5): Max Lewandowski hauled in a 91-yard touchdown pass for the Rockies against Goshen.

Saint Joseph (3-4): Alex Ortiz tossed for 90 yards and added 26 yards on the ground for Saint Joe against Penn.

Washington (2-5): Jaydon Lineberry came up with a fumble recovery for the Panthers against Jimtown.

Wawasee (1-6): Dallas Miller recorded a seven-yard touchdown reception for the Warriors against Warsaw.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Bremen (4-3) at Riley (6-1): The Lions have captured five of the previous eight meetings with Riley.

Concord (4-3) at Mishawaka (5-2): The Minutemen are looking to halt a three-game losing streak against Mishawaka.

Elkhart (3-4) at Marian (3-4): In their two previous matchups, the Lions have outscored Marian, 54-24.

Penn (6-1) at New Prairie (6-1): The Kingsmen have dropped their last two contests with New Prairie at Amzie Miller Field.

Tippecanoe Valley (7-0) at Glenn (4-3) (Saturday): This marks the first meeting between the Vikings and Tippecanoe Valley, who will both be part of the newly formed Indiana Northern State Conference next fall.
