HERE’S TO THE WINNERS

Andrean (12-1): Gavin Jones came up with four receptions for 110 yards as the No. 5 59ers blanked No. 2 Brownstown Central, 7-0, to earn the Class 2A state crown.

Brownsburg (14-0): Chancelor Adams contributed 13 tackles as the top-ranked and defending state champion Bulldogs made it back-to-back Class 6A state titles with a 38-31 decision over No. 6 Westfield.

Cascade (15-0): Lucas Farmer carried the ball eight times for 76 yards, caught a 59-yard pass, and added eight tackles in the No. 2 Cadets’ 29-14 win over Fort Wayne Bishop Luers for the Class 3A state championship.

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (13-2): Gus Tippmann rambled 10 times for 44 yards with two touchdowns as the No. 8 Saints rallied for a 36-29 win over No. 6 Indianapolis Roncalli for the Class 4A state title,

New Palestine (14-0): Landon Maddox came up with three receptions for 63 yards with a touchdown in as the top-ranked and defending Class 4A state champion Dragons made it two titles in a row with a 38-17 win over No. 5 Merrillville in the Class 5A final.

South Putnam (13-2): In addition to running one yard for a touchdown and hauling in a 28-yard pass, Keenan Mowery-Shields also racked up 14 tackles as the No. 5 Eagles earned their second state title and first since 1986 with a 55-29 win over No. 3 Pioneer in the Class 1A finale.

SECOND BEST

Brownstown Central (14-1): Preston Garrison rambled 13 times for 35 yards and caught two passes for 50 yards for the Braves against Andrean.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (9-6): Thomas Reichert went 10-of-17 for 142 yards for the Knights against Cascade.

Indianapolis Roncalli (11-4): Luke Roeder hauled in a 79-yard touchdown pass for the Royals against Bishop Dwenger.

Merrillville (11-3): Ja’Savion Ellis racked up 11 tackles with two for loss for the Pirates against New Palestine.

Pioneer (13-2): Micah Rans was 2-of-7 for 42 yards and ran 11 times for 20 yards with a touchdown for the Panthers against South Putnam.

Westfield (11-3): Baylor Conner tallied four receptions for 50 yards, eight carries for 32 yards, and a one-yard touchdown pass for the Shamrocks against Brownsburg.

MATT’S MATCHUPS 2025 FOOTBALL FINAL

A 3-3 (50 percent) mark in the state finals left me with an overall record of 240-55, which was good for 81 percent and allowed me to achieve my goal of finishing above 80 percent this season.
