Longtime Bedford Times-Mail sports editor Bob Bridge dies at 71

Bob Bridge, 71, passed away on Friday, March 28th, 2025. Bob was a 1972 graduate of Evansville North High School and a 1979 graduate of Indiana University. For nearly 30 years, he served as sports editor of the Bedford Times-Mail.

During his time as sports editor, he covered the rise of basketball standout Damon Bailey and the state-winning Bedford North Lawrence High School boys’ basketball team as well as Pete Pritchett’s BNL Lady Stars. Bob was a 2005 Indiana Sportswriters & Sportscasters HOF inductee and was named Indiana Sportswriter of the Year by the Indiana Sportswriter and Sportscasters Association in 1997.

In 2017, he was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame when he received the Indiana Fever Silver Medal Award. Also in 2017, Bridge received the Virgil Sweet Award from the IBCA for his meritorious service in the promotion of basketball across Indiana.
