LEWISTON, Idaho – LSU Shreveport (La.) broke the all-time, all-associations collegiate baseball record for consecutive wins, Thursday, beating Hope International (Calif.), 14-4, in the semifinal round of the 2025 Avista NAIA World Series.

The Pilots are now in sole-possession of an all-time best 58-game winning streak, surpassing 57 from Howard (Texas, two-year), and at 58-0, LSUS is one win away from the 2025 NAIA Baseball Red Banner.

Ryan Davenport and Josh Gibson had three hits each at the top of the order, and Davenport drove in four. Ian Montz had three RBIs and scored three runs, and Cobe Reeves got the win, striking out nine. Trotter Boston, Kyle Harvey, and David Shackleford each had two hits, for Hope International.

Jose Sallorin brought home a pair of second-inning runs with a single to get LSUS on the scoreboard, but in the bottom half of the inning, Hope International loaded the bases, and Colby Moran walked, scoring Harvey.

LSUS was able to cushion its lead in the third when Gibson doubled to the gap in left for LSUS, coming home on a Montz single that also scored Austin Gomm.

Later in the inning, Diego Aragon drew a full-count, bases-loaded walk, stretching the lead to 5-1. Two more came across when Davenport singled to left field.

Hope International put two men on in the fourth, but Reeves buckled down after Boston moved in to scoring position, striking out Mario Tostado and Amari Bartee to stop the Royals.

Boston led off the bottom of the sixth for Hope International, singling on the infield and moving to second on a throwing error. Boston moved to third on a ground-ball out and scored on Bartee’s single through the middle, trimming the lead to 7-2.

The bases were loaded later in the sixth, and Harvey singled in two runs to make it 7-4. The Pilots answered the inning with Aragon’s two-run single, and Davenport added two more, his third and fourth RBIs of the day, with a single. LSU Shreveport added another run in the eighth and two more in the ninth to go in front 14-4.

LSU Shreveport will meet Southeastern (Fla.) Friday for a national championship. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m., PT, on the NAIA Network and Urban Edge Network at www.naia.org/watch.
