Brandon Mackey and Joey Markasovic repeat as MSFA Midwest League Special Teams Players of the Week, while a key special teams play for the second week in a row results in St. Francis picking up another honor in Week 6.
Offensive Player of the Week
Brandon Mackey, Judson
So., RB, McRae, Ga. (Wheeler County HS)
- Set the Judson single-game record with 245 rushing yards in the 64-22 loss at Olivet Nazarene
- Had three TDs and averaged 16.3 yards over 15 carries
- Earns his second career MSFA Offensive Player of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week
Joey Markasovic, Saint Xavier
Sr., LB, New Lenox, Ill. (Providence Catholic HS)
- Led No. 23 Saint Xavier with 13 tackles in the Cougars’ 21-20 win over No. 18 Roosevelt
- Had three and a half tackles for loss and a sack in the win
- Earns back-to-back MSFA Defensive Player of the Week awards, and the fifth of his career
Special Teams Player of the Week
Logan Johnson, St. Francis
So., LB, Kankakee, Ill. (Bishop McNamara HS)
- Blocked a punt in the fourth quarter of the Saints’ 28-21 win at Missouri Baptist
- Returned the block 37 yards for the go-ahead TD with just over two minutes remaining
- Earns his first career MSFA Midwest League Special Teams Player of the Week award
