KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Hannah Marchand headlines a trio of award winners for IU South Bend, as the middle hitter was named to the 2021 NAIA Women’s Volleyball All-America Team. Senior Julie Brown and junior setter McKenzie Powell earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors as the full award list was announced on Thursday.

Marchand becomes the first three-time NAIA All-American recipient in program history, after being selected as an Honorable Mention in 2019 and 2020. The senior was the 2019 CCAC Co-Player of the Year, and a three-time All-CCAC First Team member after her inclusion to the 2021 list announced last month.
With 1,177 kills in an IUSB uniform, Marchand finished her career 4th on the all-time kills list, and set program records with career averages of 3.96 kills per set and 4.71 points per set.

Brown secured her first career All-American honor as one of two Titans named to the Honorable Mention list. The senior was an All-CCAC First Team and AVCA NAIA All-Mideast Region First Team selection this season, and a career three-time All-CCAC selection. She finishes her IUSB career with the highest career attack percentage in program history (.318), setting the single-season program record this year, with a .368 percentage. Brown is also third on the all-time solo blocks (45) and total blocks (256) leaderboard.

Coming off CCAC Setter of the Year and AVCA NAIA Mideast Region Setter of the Year honors, Powell is named an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention for the first time in her career. A three-time All-CCAC First Team member, Powell is IUSB’s all-time leader in career assists with 3,937, the only player in program history with more than 2,000 assists in her time at IU South Bend. Powell registered 1,143 assists this season, and set the IUSB single-season record with an average of 10.7 assists per set.

The trio mark the first time that IUSB has placed multiple players on the All-American list, doubling the three previous Honorable Mention picks, with Marchand becoming the first-ever NAIA All-American selection.
