Minnesota and Penn State Earn Weekly Volleyball Awards

Minnesota’s Molly Lohman, Jasmyn Martin and Samantha Seliger-Swenson, along with Penn State’s Haleigh Washington earn weekly honors

 

Player of the Week

Haleigh Washington, Penn State

MB – Sr. – Colorado Spring, Co. – Doherty

• Averaged 3.9 kills and 1.9 blocks per set with a .531 hitting percentage to help No. 3 Penn State defeat Ohio State and Northwestern on the weekend

• Put down a career-high 20 kills on a hitting clip of .500, while adding eight blocks and two digs in the Nittany Lions’ five-set win over Ohio State

• Added 11 kills, seven blocks and three digs to hit .588 against Northwestern

• Earns her eighth career Player of the Week award

• Last Penn State Player of the Week: Haleigh Washington (Oct. 2, 2017)

Defensive Player of the Week

Molly Lohman, Minnesota

MB – Sr. – Mankato, Minn. – Mankato West

• Registered 17 blocks, nine kills, four digs and two service aces on the weekend to help the sixth-ranked Gophers defeat a pair of top-25 ranked conference opponents

• Posted a match-high seven blocks in the Gophers’ five-set victory over No. 7 Wisconsin

• Posted 10 blocks, five kills and three digs on 10 attempts to hit .400 against No. 22 Michigan

• Collects her third career Defensive Player of the Week accolade and second this season

Setter of the Week

Samantha Seliger-Swenson, Minnesota

S – Jr. – Minnetonka, Minn. – Hopkins

• Posted 96 set assists to average 12.0 per set in guiding No. 6 Minnesota to wins over No. 7 Wisconsin and No. 22 Michigan

• Added a season-best 62 assists along with 12 digs, and a block assist in the Gophers’ five-set win over No. 7 Wisconsin

• Registered 34 assists and seven digs to help the Gophers hit .354 in their straight-set victory over No. 22 Michigan  

• Receives her ninth career Setter of the Week citation and third of the season

• Posted a career-high 17 kills in the Gophers’ five-set win over No. 7 Wisconsin

• Registered 10 kills and hit .400 in the straight-set victory at No. 22 Michigan

• Garners her first Freshman of the Week honor
